Burt's Bees Charcoal Fluoride-Free Zen Peppermint Toothpaste

Breakdown

1 ingredient to avoid

Burt's Bees Charcoal Fluoride-Free Zen Peppermint Toothpaste scores 68/100 on Tallow — our okay band. That number comes from what is on the label: the ingredients, how processed it is, and what it is packaged in. It is not a verdict on your diet — Tallow does not weigh calories, portion size or how often you eat it, so a high score means the ingredients are clean, not that the food is unlimited.

Burt's Bees Charcoal Fluoride-Free Zen Peppermint Toothpaste lists 10 ingredients, starting with Glycerin, Water, Hydrated Silica, Flavor and Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate. Ingredients are listed in descending order by weight, so the first few make up most of what you are eating.

At 68/100 Burt's Bees Charcoal Fluoride-Free Zen Peppermint Toothpaste lands mid-scale — below the typical score in toothpaste, but clear of the bottom band. A higher-scoring option in toothpaste is Pepsodent Herbal Fresh Mint Sage Chamomile Myrrh Toothpaste at 100/100.
