Healthy restaurants near you

Find restaurants and fast food scored for what they actually cook with — including whether they fry in seed oils. Every place on this map is rated by the Tallow community across four things that decide whether a meal out is clean or not — seed oils, artificial additives, plastic food contact, and how much of the menu arrives premade. How to use the map

  • Zoom and pan to load the restaurants in an area. The map loads a city-sized area at a time rather than a whole country, so zoom in until the markers appear.
  • Read the colors. Green is clean (70–100), amber is okay (41–69), red is heavy on seed oils and additives (0–40). A grey dot is a restaurant nobody has rated yet.
  • Filter to rated places only, green-only, additive-free, or seed-oil-free.
  • Click any markerfor that restaurant’s full breakdown, locations, and what reviewers said.

Common questions

How does Tallow score restaurants?

From community ratings across four categories — seed oils, artificial additives, plastic contact and premade food — weighted by reviewer confidence and moderated before they count. Seed oils carry the most weight (3×), then additives (2×), then plastics and ultra-processing (0.5× each). Chains are scored once, since any location's review speaks for the whole chain.

How do I find seed-oil-free restaurants near me?

Open the map above and allow location access, or search for a city or restaurant name in the search bar at the top of the page. Turn on the “Seed-oil-free” filter to show only places that scored 70 or better on seed oil use. Green markers are clean (70–100), amber are okay (41–69), red are heavy on seed oils and additives (0–40), and grey markers haven't been rated yet.

Does this map show every restaurant?

It shows every restaurant a Tallow user has rated, plus everything mapped from Foursquare's place data. An unrated restaurant still appears as a grey marker — it just doesn't have a score yet. Zoom in to load the places in a given area; the map won't load results for a whole country at once.

Can I rate or report a restaurant from the website?

Not yet. Rating and reporting happen in the app so we can verify who is submitting evidence and moderate it before it counts toward a score. Everything else — scores, ingredients, locations — is free to read here with no account.
