Some dishes use seed oils · No artificial additives · Some plastic contact · Some premade food
They have no artificial additives on their ingredients and get food local sourced, but plastic list found lots of phthalates in their food.
Four categories, weighted. Seed oils count three times as much as plastics or ultra-processing, so a poor seed-oil score pulls the overall number down hardest.

Went through sweetgreen's own online nutrition and ingredient guide. Their seed-oil-free push is real but partial: roasted vegetables and proteins are cooked in extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil, and the green goddess ranch is avocado-oil based. But sunflower oil is still in the balsamic vinaigrette, the caesar, the pesto vinaigrette, the hot honey mustard, the miso sesame ginger and the spicy cashew; canola is in the hummus and crispy rice; and the tortilla chips list canola plus possible safflower, sunflower, soybean or cottonseed. Pick your dressing carefully. Otherwise the lists are unusually clean — the only dye on the whole menu was caramel color in the honey BBQ sauce. Two caveats: about 17 items say the ingredient list is not available online and point you to a printed guide in store, and some components (crispy onions, breads, cheeses, chips) are supplier-made. I did not rate plastic contact.
Basically no seed oils or additives
Tallow reviewers check sweetgreen on four things: whether it cooks in seed oils, whether the menu carries artificial additives, whether food touches plastic on the way out, and how much of it arrives premade rather than made in the kitchen. The answers to each are scored below.
