What the score is made of

Four categories, weighted. Seed oils count three times as much as plastics or ultra-processing, so a poor seed-oil score pulls the overall number down hardest.

  • Seed oil3× weight75
  • Additives2× weight50
  • Plastics0.5× weight
  • NOVA0.5× weight50

Plastics has no ratings yet and count as 0 toward the overall score — an unproven category isn’t a free pass.

What reviewers said

Saladworks publishes real manufacturer ingredient statements and they show a seed oil in 60 of 76 menu items, with 15 of the 16 dressings built on soybean oil, plus HFCS and MSG in several of them. Building a clean salad is genuinely possible with raw greens, grilled chicken and the oil and vinegar option.

Rated 2026-08-28 from the BigZpoon allergen/nutrition widget that Saladworks links from its own menu page - full verbatim manufacturer statements for 231 of 249 distinct components across all 76 menu items. Nothing usable exists on saladworks.com itself; every nutrition-ish path returns an identical 46,897-byte soft-404. Recipe: GET https://widget.api.eagle.bigzpoon.com/company with header x-comp-id: saladworks, then /locations/search, /menucategories?locationId=, /menuitems?locationId=&categoryId= (the param is categoryId, NOT menuCategoryId), then /menuitems/<id>?locationId= for ingredients[].ingredientText. Seed oils: 109 of 231 components, resolving to 60 of 76 items on the default build. 15 of 16 dressings are soybean-oil based. Additives: 70 components, 46 of 76 items, including HFCS, MSG, Yellow 5, sodium nitrite and caramel color.
