What the score is made of

Four categories, weighted. Seed oils count three times as much as plastics or ultra-processing, so a poor seed-oil score pulls the overall number down hardest.

  • Seed oil3× weight50
  • Additives2× weight0
  • Plastics0.5× weight
  • NOVA0.5× weight50

Plastics has no ratings yet and count as 0 toward the overall score — an unproven category isn’t a free pass.

What reviewers said

Kung Fu Tea publishes a full per-drink ingredient document, and it shows a menu built almost entirely out of formulated powders: 148 of the 169 drink and topping entries name an emulsifier, phosphate, preservative or synthetic dye, and 66 name an FD&C colour outright. Seed oils are actually the narrow problem here - they arrive only through the optional oat milk, the graham cracker topping, a couple of slush toppings and the protein add-on, because the standard creamer is hydrogenated palm kernel oil rather than a seed oil.

Rated 2026-09-01 from Kung Fu Tea's own document "Kung Fu Tea Drink Ingredients Information" (internal title "Product Ingredient Information 3.04.26", 54 pages, 3,365,595 bytes), linked by that name from kungfutea.com/nutrition (200, 222,258 bytes). A real per-drink ingredient statement covering the whole menu, parsed into 169 entries with ingredient text. SEED OILS = some, provenance narrow: rapeseed oil only via the optional Chobani Oatmilk Barista substitution; soybean oil only via the Honey Maid Graham Cracker topping (Mango Clouds Milk Tea, Matcha Luck Milk Tea, Taro Tantrum Slush, Cheery Rosehip Slush, Cheesecake Milk Cap); canola oil in the S'more/cocoa slush toppings; organic high-oleic sunflower oil in the Protein Add-on. The standard creamer is hydrogenated palm kernel oil, not a seed oil. ADDITIVES = all: 148 of 169 entries name an E-number, emulsifier, phosphate, sorbate or synthetic dye; 66 name an FD&C dye.
