Five Guys fries in 100% refined peanut oil in a dedicated fryer and its burger patty ingredient statement is literally "100% Beef", which puts it far ahead of its peers, but every bun contains soybean, hydrogenated soybean, hydrogenated cottonseed, canola and sunflower oil, so no burger is actually seed-oil-free. Only 13 of 64 items name a seed oil and 38 of 64 are additive-free.
Five Guys is the rare chain whose signature item is genuinely clean. Its June 2026 Nutrition & Allergen Guide heads the fries section "FRIES - COOKED IN 100% PEANUT OIL" and the statement is just "Potatoes, Refined Peanut Oil, Salt." Peanut oil is a legume oil, not a seed oil, and the fryer cooks nothing else. The burger patty statement is "100% Beef." The catch is the bun: all three buns list soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, canola oil and sunflower oil, so no burger or hot dog is seed-oil-free. Only 13 of 64 rows name a seed oil, the rest being both mayonnaises, Five Guys Sauce, both fry sauces, liquid butter, Oreo Creme, Oreo pieces, peanut butter and the Supplier-S Cajun seasoning. 38 of 64 rows are additive-free, and what exists sits in buns and shakes: sodium benzoate 9, mono-and-diglycerides 8, artificial flavor 6, polysorbate 80 in 3 (Pickles Supplier B, Five Guys Sauce, Whipped Cream Supplier S), TBHQ only in the Reese's cup.
